Now we have all started to shake off the winter blues we can think about venturing out. Spring means some lovely family trips out or, if you are a driving fan, a cruise out on some of Yorkshire’s great roads.
We are really lucky our region is packed with things to do and spectacular scenery. Make time to explore, take a map or satnav and go. One of my favourite drives is past Leyburn, Buttertub Pass from Hawes to Kirby Stephen, excellent for those who really enjoy driving. Closer to home there are some super roads to the North of Harrogate and over towards Sherburn, however on a good day a keen eye is needed for bikers blowing cobwebs off their shiny machines!
If a family trip is more your thing and perhaps the people carrier wouldn’t take kindly to being slung round some challenging bends, there’s still loads to see and do. Eden Camp near Malton is worth a visit, the kids will enjoy it and it’s educational, so tick the great parent box off. Mother Shipton’s cave Knaresborough is a timeless attraction, get there early as parking can be difficult. Magna the science adventure Centre is brilliant, with lots of hands on things, not like the traditional dusty museums we were dragged around as children and told strictly “Don’t touch that it’s a thousand years old!” and they were talking about the security guard! For big kids of all ages Digger Land near Castleford is great and yes, you get to have a go!
You must make sure your car is safe for journey and has been serviced, call into Motor Marque and we’re happy to give your car a free check for the journey. I know a tank of fuel is more than it used to be, but even if your car needs a service and a tank of fuel, great weekend trips out can be had at a fraction of the cost of going away for a few days with the expense of hotel and time off work.
Safe driving and have a happy road trip.
