With the Summer having a particularly slow and poor start, most drivers haven’t had to hit the Air Conditioning button very often. This has brought its own problems, most car air conditioning systems naturally lose about 100 grams of coolant every year, with systems hardly being used this year we’ve seen that increase. When the system isn’t being used the coolant gas escapes out from the seals and without proper lubrication, some components can seize up, meaning when you do need you Air-Con it simply doesn’t work properly.
A re-gas of the system usually cures this but it can be more costly if major componants need to be replaced. To help prevent this from happening ensure you have your Air Conditioning switched on for at least 20mins every fortnight. If you do need to get the Air Con working well a re-gas can be done while you wait by our registered workshop. Garages must have a licence to handled refrigerant used in Air Conditioning systems. Motor Marque has ‘F-Gas’ trained and certified technicians.
If you notice a musty smell when the Air con is switched on or off, you may need to have the system serviced. The pollen filter should be changed and an anti-bacterial treatment carried out, leaving the Air Con provided you with cool, fresh, clean air.
If you need your Air Conditioning re-gassing quote “Motor Marque Blog Offer” and get a Re-gas at half price! for £27.50 including VAT. This offer is only available though August so be quick.
