If so it is fast approaching its 3rd birthday and this means it will be soon due its 1st MOT. The law requires that anyone who keeps a car on the road must have it in a roadworthy condition at all times. The MOT test is a check to make sure that you are meeting the minimum standards for road safety and is due every year once a car turns 3 years of age.
There are a few items which cars commonly fail their first MOT on but these are all things which you can check yourself before you visit the garage. The top three failure items on car’s first MOT’s are: bulbs which need replacing, wiper blades which are smearing the windscreen and tyres below the minimum legal tread depth of 1.6mm.
If you’re not sure exactly when your MOT is due then there is a facility on the gov.uk website to check this (you will need your car registration and your V5C certificate) alternatively why not give us a call – we can check when your car was first registered and even set up a reminder so you don’t miss that all important date.
